Creating an AI Treatment Plan
Detailed walkthrough of the 3-step AI treatment plan generation process
The 3-Step Diagnose → Plan → Create Flow
Creating an AI-powered treatment plan is a guided three-step process. The header at the top of the flow always shows where you are — 1 Diagnose, 2 Plan, 3 Create — so you can jump back to an earlier step at any time.
Tip: Start from a Template
Before diving in, click the ✨ Templates button in the Diagnose header to pick a curated starting point (for example "Single-tooth implant" or "Full-arch clear aligners"). Templates prefill the document name, treatment approach, and clinical notes on Step 2 while leaving you on Step 1 to choose the actual teeth and conditions. See Using Clinical Templates for details.
Step 1: Diagnose
Pick the teeth involved and describe what's wrong with each one.
- Click teeth on the dental chart to select them. Use the Select all, Select upper, and Select lower shortcuts to grab arches in one click.
- For each selected tooth, choose a condition category (caries, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, orthodontic, other) and a severity where applicable.
- Use the Document name and Patient name fields at the top to label this case.
- Toggle between Universal, FDI, and Palmer tooth notations as needed.
Step 2: Plan
- Patient Age Group — Helps the AI tailor recommendations appropriately.
- Treatment Approach — Conservative, moderate, comprehensive, or phased.
- Overall Notes (optional) — Medical history, allergies, patient preferences, or anything else you want the AI to consider. Notes display as clean formatted text in summaries.
Step 3: Create
Review your inputs on the summary screen. If everything looks correct, click "Generate Plan". The AI will create a comprehensive treatment plan in approximately 10–15 seconds. You can also toggle Enhanced quality (where available) for a more detailed result at a higher credit cost.
After Generation
Your plan is immediately saved and fully editable. You can:
- Edit any section of the plan text.
- Use AI Enhance to modify specific parts with instructions.
- Share the plan via link or download as PDF.
- Apply tags, change its status, or archive it from the dashboard — see Bulk Actions on Plans and Archiving Treatment Plans.
