Local Anesthesia
Local anaesthesia is the injection of a numbing medication near a tooth or area of the mouth to block pain during dental procedures while the patient remains fully awake.
The most common dental anaesthetics are lidocaine, articaine, and mepivacaine. Buffering the anaesthetic just before injection reduces the sting and onset time — see our review of the Onset EZ Pen buffering system.
