Conditions
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is an advanced, irreversible form of gum disease in which inflammation destroys the bone and connective tissue that hold teeth in place, eventually leading to tooth mobility and loss.
Treatment includes deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), local antibiotics such as PerioChip, and in advanced cases periodontal surgery. Diet may play a role too — see research linking low lycopene to severe gum disease.
