Cusp
A cusp is a raised, pointed projection on the chewing surface of a tooth. Molars and premolars typically have 2 to 5 cusps that interlock with opposing teeth during biting.
Worn or fractured cusps are common reasons for crown placement, especially after a large filling or root canal weakens the tooth.
