Apex Locator
An apex locator is an electronic device used during root canal treatment to measure the length of the tooth's root canal and locate the apical foramen (the tip of the root) without relying solely on X-rays.
Modern multi-frequency apex locators are accurate to within 0.5 mm in over 90% of cases, reducing radiation exposure and improving outcomes. They are typically used in combination with rotary files such as ProTaper Gold.
